My photographic practice is driven by curiosity and a desire to document the diverse cultural landscapes I encounter. Beginning as a street photographer in my home city of Kolkata, I quickly realized that people and their relationship with their environment interested me the most. Growing up on stories of unique cultures around the world, I now seek to visualize those narratives through my frames.
My recent documentary essay, The City Answers, captures the groundswell of a nationwide, youth-led political movement from the humid streets of Kolkata. The work documents the tension and controlled chaos of thousands united against systemic injustice, highlighting a unique juxtaposition of heavy monsoon skies, patriotic fervor, and internet-born satire used as a tool for protest.
By framing the peaceful, shoulder-to-shoulder solidarity of the public against the stark reality of state escalation, my imagery examines the fragile threshold between collective hope and vulnerability.
