Life is a journey, but somewhere along the way, we began confusing it with the things we collect. We surround ourselves with conveniences, constantly moving toward something more until our wants suddenly feel like necessities. In this endless momentum, I began to wonder: when does enough stop being enough?
I encountered a community existing completely outside the machinery of modern technology. There is no electricity, and many things I always considered necessary simply do not exist here. Yet, I found no emptiness in their absence. They cultivate their own food, weave their own clothes, and build homes from mud and cow dung. They avoid commercial products like soaps and toothpaste, believing their existence should never harm the natural world. Nature is not just a backdrop; it dictates their beliefs, their labor, and their everyday choices.
Witnessing this made me examine my own life.
Perhaps poverty is not the absence of possessions, and wealth is not their presence. Perhaps the greater poverty is the inability to feel that we have enough.
Through this work, I don’t want to romanticize their lives or reject the modern world. I simply want to observe the contrast. We have built a reality where desire rarely ends, where convenience constantly creates new needs, and where progress distances us from the earth that sustains us. This project is a reflection on our endless search for more. Perhaps these people are not living with less. Perhaps they have simply learned to need less, and in doing so, found an entirely different meaning of enough.
